Top 5 Evil Clowns Horror Films- By Rachael Whittaker
I have looked on Google searches to look for the 5 top evil horror films. These are what I've found and I will provide a link trailer with them to see what you think.
Fear of Clowns - By Rachael Whittaker
Many people are scared of clowns, me including. What create this fear though? The fear of clowns is actually a term called 'coulrophobia'. Some people believe that it is due to a bad past experience that happened during young childhood, although it can carry on through who teenage years and adulthood. Sometimes the fear has just developed from the media. I think the actual clown image is not appealing to some people because it's not knowing the person. As the the face and body is disguised to know show their identity so that could be a main reason. That its too much of a mystery that it can literally freak you out.The Wolfman - By Rachael Whittaker
I have been to see this film recently and I would like to compare ideas with this film. Although The Wolfman is originally a thriller & horror film they are ideas that could possibly be used. Such as for a scenery we were thinking of a forest/woods scene to add to our film. So in The Wolfman I witnessed a couple of forest scenes they had and they created the moment of awareness of what is going to happen next. The forest scene I saw was very dark and had s
ome fog going off which i actually liked, it could be a possibility that we could add to ours, although it may not happen as we cannot control the weather and have only so much limited time to be waiting for a specific kind of weather we want to include. Another thing that caught my eye was when the character Lawrence was transforming into a film he started it by doing a cut sequence of when his body sort of kept jerking and clicking, I also think this would be a good idea to add to our stalker character as it mays it seem more bizarre and it gets a good reaction from the audience as body clicking sounds can put some people off, which makes them cringe. The film has helped inspired ideas that we could possibly try to create our own into our film.

Research on 15 Certificate - By Lauren Smith
As our film is a 15 certificate this means it will be suitable for people who are 15 or over.
Our film is a horror film so we will be able to use strong threat and menace are permitted unless sadistic or sexualised. We can show dangerous behaviour like for example hanging, suicide and self harming, but we will not be able to dwell on the behaviour too much also if we show any weapons we should not glamorise there use in our film. Violence may be strong in our film, but it should not dwell on the infliction of pain or injury. We will not be able to put in really gory images because it is unlikely to be accepted.
Examples of other 15 Horror Films are:
- Psych 9
- Psycho
- The Wicker Man
- The Birds
- The Thing
Treatment 2 - By Brett Cooper
Title - Welcome To The Circus
Duration - 90 minutes
Audience - 15 - 40 year olds and the film will appeal to males because of the dominant male figure in the film.
The Storyline:
We are introduced to girl that is in her room and she seems that she has come back from school/college. We are shown a photo of what we believe is of her group of friends then we are shown flash backs of three of them being murdered we almost feel that we were there watching the murders. Then the voice of Rachael is telling us what happened to her friends as she gets ready to go out with friends. However as she is shutting her curtains ready to go out she thinks she sees a man watching her she thinks she is seeing things so she looks away and looks back and he is gone. After the events that took place in her room she heads over to friends but is watched and stalked all the time but this is to her unknown. She arrives at her friends they finish getting ready for the night and then head out to the party which is in a nearby woods. However they have a guest coming with them to the party but they do not know the stalker is right behind them watching there every move as they enter the woods to the party with their friends.
After a few hours of partying a few of her friends have gone missing Rachael is worried and starts to worry as this wood is where her friends died. She tries to grab her friend Laura and go home, again her friend reassures her and says they will have gone for a walk and will be back soon.
we then see the Rachael sat by the fire when through the flames she sees the stalker again and the 'Jack in a Box' is in her hand. She screams and starts to run as she realizes that all her friends have been killed. However Rachael ran the wrong way head further and further into the woods. She eventually thinks that she has a big enough gap between her and the stalker when she hides in a old bomb shelter. However she then still thinks this could all be in her head she thinks to herself why has no one else sounded the alarm or got away.
She hears a noise and and starts to realize that its the stalker outside, believing that this is all in her head she thinks that the right thing to do is confront this stalker weather he be a figure in her head or real. She creeps up behind him hits him over the head and he falls to the floor. She grabs his weapon and stands over him only to see the shock on her face as she realizes who it is but we are not shown his identity.
The film then fades out and fades back in to morning and we are still at the same scene with the dead stalker and Rachael in shock at the side of him Police have then found the girl and take her home.
We are then shown the police interviewing Rachael about events, she tells them why she killed the man but the police who is this she reveals it was Mr. Heatherway from her Primary School. The police reply to her by saying that he has been dead for four years and there was no body on the scene when they arrived.

Treatment 1 - By Lauren Smith
Title: Welcome to the Circus
Duration: 2 minutes
Audience: Our film will be rated 15 Certificate. Our film will be similar to the film 'Strangers', 'Copycat' and 'It', it will be aimed at 15 to 40 years old who will be interested in horror films and strong thriller films as well. Our film will be mainly aimed at males because our main character is a strong male dominant character.
Synopsis: Our storyline for the first two minutes will be that we introduce Rachael, a normal girl with a normal life. She has a very dark secret, a photo on her desk of three of her friends reveals that they have all died in the last three months. The police have labelled all three incidents as suicide, but deep down Rachael knows that the incidents were not suicide and she suspects murder. After establishing Rachael, we will introduce her as a victim of a stalker. As night comes, while shutting her curtains, she will see a shadow of a person watching her, but she does not register that she is being watched. As she glances away the realization kicks in and she turns back to look at the window, nobody is there, but an object on her bed catches her eye. A disturbing looking jack-in-the box sits on her bed. Again she looks away not realizing what the item is, but when she glances back the object is gone. Next we will see Rachael preparing to go to a friends house, she is very unnerved by what had just happened in her room, but she decides to ignore it and just assumes the incident is just a figure of her imagination. As she walks to her friends house through a small wood where after there will be a party, we will see small parts of her stalkers face. The stalker seems to get up close to Rachael, but then jumps back. Rachael then arrives at her friends in a state of deep unease, but again she believes the incident is only a figure of her imagination as the wood she has just walked through is where a three friends died. The two then meet up and walk back into the woods still the audience will see that Rachael and her friend are be followed, but only Rachael will feel that she is being stalked. As the two minutes come to an end, the audience will be left wondering whether the stalker caught up with Rachael and caused her and her friend any harm. Also the audience will be left to wonder who the stalker is and does he really exist.
Suggested Elements - The circus/ clown themes in our films will be a unique selling point as well as our film playing on peoples psychological fear of clowns.
Research - Horror films - By Melissa Erwin
"Copycat", directed by Jon Amiel - 1995 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copycat_(film) "Copycat" is a horror film about a serial killer who copies the methods of previous, famous serial killers. A criminal profiler who tries to identify him, tries to stop him with the help of her friend, otherwise they will be next.

This is similar to our film, as the main killer in our film is also psychological. The serial killer, in our film, also doesn't have one particular way of killing his victims and the main girl in our film, also tries to uncover his identity. However, the main girl, Rachael, is isolated and alone, in contrast with "Copycat", where there are many people trying to uncover the killer.

Stephen King's, "It" - 1990 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/It_(1990_film)
"It" is also a horror film. Set in America, the main character in "It" is a clown, so this is similar to our film as the main killer in our film, will be based on a clown. The clown in "It" comes across seemingly friendly, however murders children. A group of people, try to get revenge on the character that they name "It", as it has killed one of the characters younger brother. "It" adapts his appearance in order to exploit the fears and phobias of its victims, whereas the killer in our film, murders his victims in different ways, in order to make them look like suicide, so nobody suspects a thing, apart from the main girl, Rachael.

"The Strangers" - directed by Bryan Betino - 2008 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Strangers
"The Strangers", is an American horror film that is based around a young couple who are isolated, violently attacked and terrorized by 3 masked killers. They are stalking the couple, which is similar to our film as the main character is stalking one girl whom he really wants to kill, but can't get his hands on her. However, in our film, the main girl kills the murderer (her stalker) at the end, in contrast with "The Strangers".

Main Task - By Lauren Smith
For our main task we need to create a 2 minute introduction to a film. At first we looked at doing a comedy for our genre, but after a group discussion on the pros and cons we have decided to create a Horror film.
What makes a horror film?
The basic structure is order, chaos and deconstruction. The main purpose of a horror film is to show a society dealing with catastrophic change, usually inflicted by a monster. The opening act depicts an ordered society unaware of impending disruption. For example a normal town like in the films "Gremlins", "A Nightmare on Elm Street" and "Halloween". An example of a storyline featuring a isolated group are in the films "Alien", "Evil Dead" and "The Thing". Finally an example of a storyline that is centred around an individual is "Carrie", "The Exorcist" and "Rosemary's Baby".
Sub-Genres
Natural - which represents a primal fear (Jaws, The Swarm, The Mist and The Descent)
Supernatural - usually a monster that is really hard to kill because they have superpowers. (Nightmare on Elm Street)
Psychological - usually features a normal person, a story that involves revenge or somebody who is mentally ill (Psycho and Hostel)
Scientific - related to the future it is sci-fi. (I am Legend, 28 Days Later and Frankenstein)
Preliminary Task - By Brett Cooper
For this task we were given a brief that told us all the information that we needed to know to make the film.
The Brief
The film needs to be 2 minutes long
Dialog between two characters
A character walking in and out of the room
We then decided that we would have two characters as mother and daughter and the daughter would walk in late from ben out and her mother be waiting to talk to her about here constant lateness.
